VALLEY LINE WEST LRT • FALL 2026 CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

STONY PLAIN ROAD BETWEEN 138-156 STREET

Valley Line West LRT progress continues along Stony Plain Road between 138-156 Street as crews advance work on the Valley Line West LRT. With significant work completed throughout the area, construction is moving into the next stages of track and rail installation as the project continues to take shape.

Crews are continuing to close the remaining gaps in the trackway between 156 and 149 Street, while work on the median between the tracks is progressing. Median slab work is expected to continue into spring 2027 as crews complete this important component of the future LRT alignment.

153 STREET ACCESS

North/south access across 153 Street is currently closed to support duct bank and rail construction. Duct bank work is ongoing, with concrete track construction planned to begin in early November. Road construction will begin once the underground work is complete.

FORM TRAVELLER WORK

Form Traveller work to cast in-place track bed for rail is expected to be completed by mid-October, marking another milestone in construction. Curious about the large structures you may have seen along the project?

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

All other cross streets in the area remain open. As crews continue advancing track construction, motorists can expect some intermittent, short-term cross street closures and traffic interruptions. These impacts are expected to be minimal through the winter, with rail installation in this area continuing into 2027 and additional closures anticipated as this work progresses.

Businesses, residents and motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and stay up to date on construction activities as work continues to move forward along Stony Plain Road.
