Built Around the People: Inside Bounce Right Back Massage

At Bounce Right Back Massage, two clients can walk in with the same shoulder pain and leave with entirely different treatments. That's on purpose. Jessica has been running the 167 Street clinic for five years on that principle — practitioners compare notes on shared clients, sessions build on each other, and nothing gets treated like a template.

The clinic shares a building with Svitlana's Bridal, a partnership born during COVID when Jessica and her husband stepped in to help her mother-in-law cover the overhead by renovating the space and opening alongside the bridal shop. The bridal shop has since closed, but Bounce Right Back has been here ever since.  We talked with Jessica about the team she's built, the treatments worth knowing about, and what she loves about being a West End business owner.

A Space Built for People

What inspired you to open Bounce Right Back Massage?

I've always loved helping people feel better. I wanted to create a space where clients felt comfortable, listened to, and cared for, also giving other practitioners a supportive place to build their own careers. I wanted it to feel personal and welcoming, not like clients were simply being rushed in and out. That was really the heart behind it.

How has the business evolved through five years?

What makes us unique is the variety of practitioners and services we have, while still keeping that smaller, personal atmosphere. Every therapist brings their own strengths and styles, so clients can find someone who is truly suited to what their body needs. We offer more than traditional massage, rapid neurofascia reset, acupuncture, and Reiki as well. Most importantly, we genuinely care about the people who come through our doors. We want clients to feel heard, and to know their treatment will be tailored to them.

A Team That Communicate

What sets your approach apart?

Everyone here truly cares, and we all work hard. Even when we share clients, we talk to each other about what we're doing. Say someone has a chronic shoulder issue they might see me for rapid neurofascia reset, then visit our acupuncturist. We'll check in: here's where the pain is, here's what I did. And she'll say, okay, I'm going to focus on that. We try to tailor our sessions so we're actually working together for the client.

It's not one size fits all. Two people can both have shoulder pain, but the reasons behind it can be completely different. So we do whatever we can to make sure the treatment is right for that specific person.

What to Try

What do you recommend for first-time clients?

Start with a 60-minute massage, deep tissue or therapeutic relaxation, depending on what your body needs. It gives the therapist enough time to talk with you, understand what's going on, and provide a treatment that's actually tailored to you.

If you're dealing with a stubborn issue, limited movement, or pain that hasn't responded well to other treatments, I'd also strongly recommend trying rapid neurofascia reset. It's very different from a traditional massage, and it can create some pretty significant changes in how the body feels and moves.

Any promotions to know about?

We don't have anything running right now, but at pop-up events around the city like Music on the Road, and we offer first-time clients a 75-minute massage for the price of a 60-minute. You get a bonus 15 minutes and can still use your benefits. We usually throw that in when we're out at different events, so it's worth keeping an eye on our social media.

Deep in the West End

How did you end up on Stony Plain Road?

The building was originally purchased by my mother-in-law for her business, Svitlana's Bridal, was here before COVID. When the pandemic hit, there were no weddings and no events, and she was really worried about covering the overhead. My husband and I talked with her about sharing the space. We put our heads together, did some renovations, and made it work for both businesses. We were able to help save her business, and that's really how Bounce Right Back found its home here.

But honestly, I just love this area. I'm a West End person. It's easy to get around, and we have clients who come in from St. Albert, Spruce Grove, and surrounding areas, it's not difficult to get here, construction aside. I love the community here, whether it's clients from the neighbourhood or the other small businesses. It's a really wonderful area.

What do you enjoy most about the people who come in?

I love getting to know our clients and building real relationships with them. Massage is very personal, people trust us with more than just their physical pain. They tell us what's happening in their lives, what they're struggling with, and what they're working toward. It's incredibly rewarding to see someone come in hurting, stressed, or exhausted and leave feeling lighter and more like themselves. We also have clients who have supported us for years, and it means a lot that they keep choosing us and recommending us to others.

What are your hopes for the future?

For Bounce Right Back, I hope we keep growing while holding on to the personal, caring atmosphere that people know us for. I want to keep building a strong team, expanding our services, and becoming a place where both clients and practitioners feel supported.

For Stony Plain Road, I'd love to see continued revitalization and more people recognizing how many great local businesses are here. I hope the area keeps becoming safer, more inviting, and more connected, with residents choosing to support the independent businesses in their own community.

Five years in, Bounce Right Back Massage is still built on the idea Jessica started with: that everyone who walks through the door deserves to feel heard, and that the person treating you has already compared notes with the rest of the team. Book a 60-minute session, tell them what's been going on, and let them do the rest.
