Call to Artists Proposals | JPAF

The Stony Plain Road Business Association, in partnership with YEG Ambassadors and the Jasper Place Arts Society, is seeking artists for a community engagement project taking place throughout the summer in Jasper Place.

This project will explore assumptions and attitudes surrounding tagging and graffiti through a series of five public art happenings held over the summer months.

Selected artists will design and facilitate interactive public art sessions approximately 2–3 hours in length. These collaborative workshops will focus on two-dimensional art practices that could later be developed into small murals or displayed in public spaces.

We are looking for artists with strong facilitation skills and experience leading community-based workshops. Artists should be comfortable guiding the creative process and encouraging participation, while allowing the final artwork to emerge collaboratively.

The first session will debut during the Jasper Place Arts Festival on June 6, 2026.

Selected artists will also be required to attend an ideation session with fellow participating artists to help develop the overall session framework and workshop plans.

An artist fee of $1,000 will be provided for the planning and facilitation of each session.

This opportunity is open to artists working in two-dimensional mediums, including:

  • Painting
  • Drawing
  • Photo-based work
  • Text-based work

Submission Requirements

Interested artists are asked to submit:

  • A 300-word artist statement
  • A short workshop outline (maximum 300 words) or a short video explaining how they would structure the workshop
  • Links to previous work, images, or a portfolio website

Submissions must be sent by May 22, 2026 to:
