Gone to the Dogs (Aug 19 TO Sep 16, 2021)
Explore the Stony Plain Road area this summer!
What?
SPR Gone to the Dogs is a community engagement project that aims to increase pedestrian traffic along Stony Plain Road. Predetermined routes will be mapped along the Stony Plain Road area and along these paths, QR codes will be placed periodically. Scanning the QR codes will provide people with discounts or deals to businesses in the surrounding area. In addition to the QR codes, specific landmarks throughout the paths will be designated as selfie checkpoints in which people may take selfies with their dogs (can be without a dog). The submission of these selfies to the SPR Business Association Instagram page will enter the individual into a grand prize draw taking place at the conclusion of the event. Additionally, for your furry companions, designated businesses that act as water stations will have dog water bowls filled and placed outside for when they need a break.
Where?
The routes where the QR codes will be placed can be seen on our map. QR codes will also be placed on posters displayed on the windows of businesses of Stony Plain Road and surrounding areas. Highlighted on the map are also the businesses involved in the event and murals that act as the selfie landmarks.

When?
This event will run from August 19th – September 16th.
Why?
The end goal of this project is that there will be increased pedestrian traffic in the area. This increase in traffic will also hopefully become habit forming and help attract dog walkers and others year-round. We know that more pedestrian traffic correlates with growth in the number of people incentivized into going into shops and spending money. We hope this project creates a lasting interest by the customers to return after the project concludes.
